Top Moments of 2017-18 - Men's Track & Field Take Third at the NAC Championship

Farmington, Maine - The #11 top moment of the 2017-18 University of Maine at Farmington Athletics season is the Men's track and field team taking second at the Thomas Invitational and finishing third in the North Atlantic Conference. The team had many great individual accomplishments in these two races. In the Thomas Invitational Shane Hathaway started the day off by winning both the Long jump and Triple jump. Shortly after he placed second in high jump, javelin and capped his day off with a 2nd place finish in the 400 hurdles tallying 44 points for the Beavers. Teammates David Doering and Thomas Dupuy went on the win events later in the day. Dupuy won the 800 and Doering 1500. Ethan Solis picked up a win in the 400-meter dash. The 4x400 (Peaslee, Solis, Boucher, and Martin) and 4x800 (Abukadir, Shorey, Dupuy, and Doering) also won their races in the Thomas Invitational. In the NAC Championships on a very rainy day, the men's team was led by Senior Shane Hathaway as he competed in six individual events and a relay. Hathaway tallied 35 points on the day winning the triple jump, placing 2nd in 400 hurdles, 3rd in long jumps and high jump 4th in 110-meter hurdles and 6th in Javelin as well as anchoring the 4x100. Corey Martin won the 400 hurdles followed by Hathaway and Abukadir and was edged out into 5th in 110-meter hurdles by .03 to Hathaway.

David Doering earned 2nd in the 800 and won the 1500 meter run. Ben Toribio had a personal record of almost a meter to earn himself a second place in the triple jump. Ethan Solis was runner-up in the 400 followed closely by Alfred Odong and Abshir Abukadir who placed 3rd and 5th. Connor Marland and Thomas Dupuy earned points in the steeplechase. The men's 4x400 finished out the track events winning the event. The men's team placed 3rd overall scoring 127 points.
