Beavers Open the Season in Florida

Clermont, Fla. – UMaine-Farmington's baseball team opened the season with a doubleheader vs Cazenovia in Clermont, Florida this week.  

Game One (L, 4-2)

  • Gavin Arsenault started on the mound for the Beavers, going seven strong innings, giving up four hits and one earned run with 12 strikeouts.
  • The Beavers notched two hits on the day with one from Jake Bessey and the other from Derek Bowen. Bowen notched one RBI on the day while Troy Johnson knocked in the other run for the Beavers.
  • Dawson Eckrich started on the mound for Cazenovia, going seven innings with giving up two hits, two earned runs with three strikeouts.
  • Dan Freese went 2-3 at the plate with two RBI's as Blake Baccello went 1-4 with two runs.
  • Booby Antonacci went 1-3 with one run.

Game Two (W, 13-0)

  • Ryan Pratt picks up his first win of the year after throwing seven shutout innings, giving up seven hits with five strikeouts.
  • The Beavers notched 18 hits on the day as Justin Rodrigue led the team going 4-4 with one RBI.
  • Chase Malloy went 2-4 with two RBI's and one run as Joshua Xanders went 2-2 with two RBI's and two runs.
  • Troy Johnson went and Kevin Carter each went 3-5 with three RBI's combined and two runs.
  • Dan Freese went 2-3 at the plate for Cazenovia as Miguel Rivera went 2-2 with a walk.
