Beavers Battle Thomas to Extras

Waterville, Maine – UMaine-Farmington's softball team battled #1 seed Thomas College to extra innings on Friday morning in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) softball tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Brianna McGrath threw 7.2 innings for the Beavers, giving up seven hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts.
  • Haley Holt started things off with a double to center field to score Bailey Robbins and Kayleigh Oberg but the play was ruled a fielding error in the top of the first to get the Beavers on the board early.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, Lauren Guppy doubled down the left field line scoring Katie Taylor followed by a triple by Bailey Dunphy to score Guppy to tie the game up at two each.
  • Alyssa Dillan roped a double to center field in the top of the sixth to score Justice Merrill to give the Beavers a 3-2 lead.
  • Thomas came right back in the bottom of the seventh when Guppy singled on a blooper to right field scoring Anna Piirainen to tie the game. In the eighth inning, Kayla Bess singled up the middle to score the game-winning run.
