Beavers Earn Second Seed in NAC Tournament

Waterville, Maine - UMaine-Farmington's women's lacrosse team earns second place in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament starting with a home game this Sunday at 12:00 PM vs Maine Maritime.

SUNY Canton (12-4 overall, 5-0 NAC) was predicted to win the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship in the preseason coaches poll and has earned the No. 1 seed after an undefeated conference season.

UMaine-Farmington (7-8 overall), Husson (7-6 overall), and Maine Maritime Academy (5-6 overall) finished the regular season with identical 3-2 conference records. Predetermined conference procedures were used to break the three-way tie. After several steps, UMaine-Farmington broke the triad by virtue of a better win percentage against Division III programs with a .500 win percentage or better. The tiebreaker began anew with the two remaining teams, and Maine Maritime edged Husson for the third seed with a head-to-head win in conference play.

No. 1 SUNY Canton will host No. 4 Husson, while No. 2 UMaine-Farmington hosts No. 3 Maine Maritime for semifinal games this weekend. Dates and times are still to be determined.

The winners from semifinal games will compete for the 2019 NAC Championship on Saturday, May 4 at the highest remaining seed.

The NAC champion will earn the automatic qualification bid, and advance to the 2019 NCAA women's lacrosse national tournament.
