Beavers Take Fourth Place at the NAC Track & Field Championships
New London, N.H. - UMaine-Farmington took fourth place at the 2018 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championships. The women were led by senior Laura Pulito and sophomores Olivia Ridley, Katie LeBlanc, and Chloe Kenyon. Pulito won both the 1500 meter run and the 800-meter run and later placed fourth in the 200-meter dash. Ridley won the 5000-meter run and placed second in the 1500 meter run. LeBlanc was second in the 5000-meter run and fourth in the 1500 meter run. Kenyon ran an impressive PR in the 3000-meter steeplechase to finish third. All four women came together at the end of the day to race the 4x400 meter relay, in which they placed fourth.
 
Other strong performances came from Paige Ireland with a third-place finish in the 100 meter hurdles, Hayley Frizzle with a fourth-place throw in the javelin, Alyssa Leonard with a fifth-place finish in the 400 meter dash, Gwen Baker with a fifth-place finish in the 800 meter run, and Jessica Brink with a sixth-place throw in the discus. Morgan Crocker did well in the jumps, placing fourth in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump. Senior Kaitlyn Virgin placed seventh in the long jump as well as anchored the 4x100 meter relay, and, joined by Crocker, Pulito, and Ireland, placed third. The women placed fourth overall as a team, missing a top-3 finish by a single point.
 
Individuals that have qualified for the New England Regional meet will travel to MIT in Cambridge, MA this coming weekend to compete in their respective events.
