Years attended UMF: 2006-2010

Current Location: Gorham, Maine

Current job: Social Studies Teacher at Sacopee Valley High School

Why did you choose to attend UMF?

I chose UMF because of the incredible reputation of the education program. I also liked the idea of going to a small school where you could get to know your professors, support staff and other students, many of whom I am still in touch with.

What are your greatest memories at UMF?

The moments that stand out the most are living with my friends, running cross country, working with my coaches, many of the professors, enjoying the outdoors, all the people I met, and going to sporting events.

How has the University of Maine at Farmington helped you in your life after college?

I was able to get a job in a competitive market the year after I graduated. I learned the most innovative ways to teach and plan curriculum. My time as a member of the cross country team gave me the knowledge to be a track and cross country coach.

What advice would you give to our current team/student-athletes?

I recommend enjoying every moment and making as many friends as possible. Although balancing sports and academics can be a challenge, it is worth every minute and will teach you to manage your time.
