Box Score JOHNSON, Vt. —The University of Maine-Farmington used a strong defensive effort to shutdown host Johnson State College 69-48 on Saturday in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action.
The Beavers allowed on 19 second half points as they moved to 4-9 overall and 4-1 in the NAC. Farmington is slated to host Bates College Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Johnson fell to 4-11, 0-4 NAC.
Josh Tanguay (Gorham, ME) finished with game-highs of 18 points and nine rebounds with Eric Lelansky (Portland, ME) finishing with 13 points. Eric Taylor (Oakland, ME)tallied 12 points and Andrew Dean (Gorham, ME) 10 points.
Johnson hung close after the first 20 minutes behind a strong defensive effort and nine points on 4-of-5 shooting by Nate Dodge (Burlington, VT/) and by shooting 54% as a team. Lelansky and Tanguay each tallied 10 points in the first half as the Beavers held a 17-11 first half rebounding advantage.
It was all Farmington in the second stanza as it knocked down five of seven 3-point field goals and stifle the Badgers into a 28 percent shooting effort from the field.
Johnson was paced by Dodge's 17 points while Rob Key II (New Britain, CT) tossed in 12 points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
