Box Score FARMINGTON -- Bates College used an 18-0 second-half run to rally for a 77-64 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in non-conference men's basketball action tonight in Dearborn Gymnasium.
The Beavers (4-10) are scheduled to return to action Friday when they host Castleton State College (men at 5:30 p.m., women to follow). The Bobcats (8-10) are slated to visit Connecticut College Friday.
Eric Taylor (Oakland, ME) led Farmington with 21 points, while Andrew Dean (Gorham, ME) added 13 points and Eric Lelansky (Portland, ME) and Josh Tanguay (Gorham, ME) each threw in 11 points.
Brian Ellis (Braintree, MA), Marshall Hatch (Chicago, IL) and Nick Schmiemann (Weymouth, MA) each tallied 14 points for the Bobcats, while Jimmy O'Keefe (Lexington, MA) provided second-half 12 points off the bench.
Taylor scored 12 of his game-high point total in the opening half as the Beavers built a 34-26 lead at halftime. Farmington shot 52 percent (13 of 25) from the field in the half.
Farmington's lead reached 10 points on a Tanguay layup to open the second half, but the Bobcats pounded their way back into the contest behind O'Keefe to cut the lead to 43-41 with 12:20 to play.
The Beavers kept Bates at bay with a 53-46 advantage with 9:07 left in regulation, but the Bobcats reeled off the game's next 18 points take a 64-53 lead with 4:43 left in the game. During the run, Hatch netted eight points and Schmiemann supplied six points.
