Box Score POULTNEY, Vt. -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team stopped a three-game skid with a 96-49 North Atlantic Conference win over Green Mountain College this afternoon.
The Beavers (5-8 overall, 1-2 in NAC) are slated to return to Farmington to host Maine Maritime Academy on Tuesday (women at 5:30 p.m., men to follow). The Eagles dropped to 0-6 (0-2).
Pet Sumner (Cramerton, N.C.) went four for four from 3-point range and finished with 20 points as 11 Beavers reached the scoring column. Andrew Dean (Gorham, Maine) added 17 points, including five threes, while Eric Taylor (Oakland, Maine) with 14 points and 13 rebounds and Ben Johnson (Manchester, Maine) with 10 points and 12 boards each registered a double-double.
DJ Gerrish (Rumford, Maine) handed out eight assists as Farmington knocked down 57.1 percent of its field goals (35-61), including 55.6 percent (15-27) from beyond the arc. The point total was the highest for the Beavers since a 96-point performance at Becker College on Jan. 13, 2007.
Malik Hale netted 19 points for Green Mountain, while Kenneth Williams chipped in 12 points.
