Box Score GORHAM, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team (2-5, 2-1) traveled to Southern Maine on Wednesday to makeup Tuesday's postponement and fell to the non-conference opponent, 65-47.
The Beavers offense started out slow but quickly battled back into the game. Southern Maine rebuilt a six to eight point lead on three separate occasions in the opening minutes, but UMF came roaring back to close the margin to four points on each succession.
Clinging to a 12-8 lead with 13 minutes left in the opening frame, the Huskies offense took control of the game and finished the half on a 27-12 run and took a 39-20 lead into the break.
In the second half, USM kept its foot on the gas peddle and increased its lead to as much as 25 points.
Uriah Forest-Bulley notched a team-high14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Nick Hilton nearly matched Forest-Bulley with 13 points and seven rebounds of his own.
Pet Sumner finished the game only one point shy of scoring 1,000 career points and becoming the 17th member of UMF's 1,000 points club.
UMaine-Farmington returns home on Friday to host Bowdoin College at 7:00pm in Dearborn Gymnasium.
