Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – Four starters scored in double figures on Saturday afternoon as the University of Maine at Farmington (4-12, 3-7) fell, 89-75, to Green Mountain College at Dearborn Gymnasium.
The Beavers trailed at the break, 41-36, despite shooting exactly the same (16-39) as Green Mountain from the floor. Green Mountain nailed six three pointers in the first half as UMF only sank two for the difference maker.
The contest was close until the Eagles built a 14-point advantage with nine and a half minutes left in the game. The Beavers managed to cut the lead to as little as seven but the Eagles' had the hot hand from outside. GMC shot better from the outside in the second half and made seven field goals from beyond the arc. Green Mountain's Cassius Belfron scored 23 of his 28 points in the second half.
Nick Hilton led the way for the Beavers with 22 points and seven rebounds. Uriah Forest-Bulley recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Pet Sumner scored 14 points on 6-for-13 shooting and Logan Nichols added 10 points to the UMF offense. Belfron shot 7-for-12, hit four three-pointers, and was 10-for-13 from the free-throw line.
UMaine-Farmington travels to New England College on Friday at 5:30 p.m. to resume conference play.
