Men's Hoops Comeback Over Husson Falls Short on Senior Night

FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington's (8-16, 7-10) attempt at a second half comeback fell short on Wednesday night with a, 81-76, loss to Husson University (19-5, 14-3) at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Despite getting off to a slow start, the Beavers shot 59.3% (16-27) in the first half. Husson sank 5-of-13 three-point attempts and shot 42.4% (14-33) from the field. Both teams took care of the ball with seven combined turnovers. Husson's Raheem Anderson scored 17 first half points. UMF's Eric Berry led the Beavers in the opening half with 12 points and gathered two rebounds.

Husson's largest lead came with 9:38 remaining in the game and a nine-point advantage. Husson appeared to be running away with the game, but UMF scored nine of the game's next 11 points to close the gap, 63-61. Four minutes later, Pet Sumner nailed a three-pointer at the top of the arc to tie the game at 68-apiece.

The lead swapped between both teams for the next three minutes. In the final minute, Husson held a, 77-76, lead and Hilton tried to give UMF the lead but his layup attempt down low bounced off the rim into the hands of a Husson defender. On the other end of the court, Husson's Aaron Willis sank a pair from the line to increase the lead back to three points. Sumner tried to tie the game once more but his long range shot hit all iron. Husson's Jacob Moore scored the final two free throws for the Eagles to give Husson the final margin of victory.

Hilton's game-high 26 points came on 11-of-15 shooting and he also gathered seven rebounds. Logan Nichols and Uriah Forest-Bulley scored 10 points apiece for the Beavers. Husson's Raheem Anderson led the Eagles with 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting. Trevon Butler and Aaron Willis scored 19 points apiece for Husson. Four of the Eagles' five starters finished in double figures.

UMaine-Farmington will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Maine Maritime Academy. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
