Box Score FARMINGTON, ME – UMaine-Farmington's second half surge in three pointers in enough to beat Green Mountain College by a score of 73-71 late Saturday afternoon in Dearborn Gymnasium.
RECORDS
The Beavers move to 2-4 over and 1-2 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while the Eagles fall to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Amir Moss led the Beavers with 21 points going 7-13 from the field and 7-9 at the charity stripe.
- Owen Brown chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds while Riley Robinson and Bill Ruby finished with 10 points each.
- The Beavers shot 47.5 percent from the field and 38.9 percent behind the arc.
- Thomas Brown finished with game high 32 points for the Eagles going 12-20 from the field and 6-10 from three-point land for the Eagles.
- Patrick Rittmon rounded out the double digit point scores for the Eagles with 14.
- The Eagles shot 41 percent from the field, 37.9 percent from behind the arc and 55.6 percent at the charity stripe.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Robinson opened up the game with a three pointer just nine seconds into the first half. Thomas Brown came right back down the floor and hit a quick layup. The Eagles hit a couple back to back threes to take an 11-7 lead at the 15:32 minutes mark.
Ruby hit a layup followed by a Jimmie Chasisson layup to pull the Beavers within one (14-13). With the game tied at 15 the Eagles went on a 23-13 run to finish the first half.
Second Half
The second half opened up with the Beavers going on an 8-0 run in the first three minutes and cut the Eagles lead to 40-37.
Robinson and Issac Witham both hit back to back threes to pull within one point. Each team traded threes for the next 12 points. The Beavers took a 55-50 lead when Eric Berry hit a three of his own followed by a three by Rittmon for the Eagles.
Jimmy Chaisso hit another three to put the Beavers up by four with nine and a half minutes left to go in the game. The Beavers did not let up after that as they held the lead the rest of the way.
With about four minutes to go the Eagles pulled within two when Thomas Brown hit a layup and then pulled within one when he hit a three two minutes later (66-65). The Eagles started to foul but Moss hit almost all of his free throws to keep the lead for the Beavers.
Patrick Rittmon hit a three as time expired to make the final score 73-71.
