Rumford, Maine - UMaine-Farminton's nordic teams took third place and seventh place at Black Mountain.
UMF Nordic got off to a great start at the NENSA Roderick Cup FS race Saturday at Black Mountain. While it's hallowed ground for Nordic skiers, it's usually windy and often cold. The sun shone, the snow was relatively fast and the conditions for racing were excellent. Sophomore
Mullein Francis placed 3rd in the 15KM FS race while Senior
Jason Labbe placed 7th in the 25 KM FS race. What stands out is their split times, which showed their finishing laps were extremely close to their first laps: preseason rollerskiing is paying off. Ski races are won in the summer!
The team races next at Titcom on 2/25 with a 5:00 start time.
