LYNDONVILLE, Vermont - The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team coasted to a 106-76 victory to open up North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on the road against Northern Vermont-Lyndon on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams exchanged buckets across the first 12 minutes as both teams felt each other out. Across those opening 12 minutes, the Beavers held the largest lead at seven points. With eight minutes to play in the first half, the Beavers held a 26-23 advantage. The Beavers closed out the half on a 22-11 run to take a 48-34 lead into halftime.
Farmington could not pull away from the Hornets at the start of the second half, as Lyndon cut into the Beaver deficit over the opening six minutes of the half and only trailed by nine with 14 minutes still to play.
Over the next five minutes of gametime, the Beavers would finally pull away, going on a 25-5 run to take a 29 point lead with seven minutes left to play. The Beavers coasted from that point forward, with their largest lead sitting at 32.
Offensively, the Beavers had a very balanced scoring attack with five individual hitting double-figures. Reigning Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association Player of the Week, Terion Moss (Portland, Maine) led the Beavers with 26 points. Jack Kane (Cumberland, Maine) and Kyle Donlin (Waldoboro, Maine) each tallied season-highs as Kane scored 21 while Donlin notched 17. Drew Storey (Cumberland, Maine) and Nathan Poulin (Williamstown, Vermont) each had great games off the bench for the Beavers adding 11 points a piece.
Moss also pitched in with seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Kane finished with eight rebounds and three blocks for Farmington. Poulin also grabbed eight boards.
For the Hornets, they were led by Mondwell Bukle who scored a game high 34 points on 12-23 and 8-16 shooting splits. 12 other Hornets scored at least one point.
The Beavers improve to 4-2 and 1-0 in NAC play following the victory while the Hornets drop to 2-5 and 0-1 (NAC).
