Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Beavers Take Down Terriers, Win 5th Straight

WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team hit the road on Tuesday evening and took down the Thomas College Terriers in Waterville, 96-79, to grab their fifth straight victory and improve to 14-7 on the season and 10-1 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.

Tuesday evening's game opened up as a three-point shooting contest as the two teams combined to shoot 5-6 from three while the Beavers gained a 9-6 lead. The Beavers continued their hot shooting, extending their lead to 22-10 on the back of a 13-4 run over the next three and a half minutes.

Thomas responded with a quick 12-4 spurt to cut the Beavers lead to four. But the Beavers rebuilt their lead very quickly over the next 3:20 with a 13-0 run of their own, taking a 17-point lead. The Beavers took a 46-31 lead into the second half.

The Terriers came out of the second half aggressively with Parker Deprey converting an and-one opportunity and Rico Limcaoco draining a three to cut their deficit to nine. A Silas Mohlar (Readfield, Maine) triple stopped the Terriers momentum and regained a double-digit lead for the Beavers.

The Terrier continued to battle, cutting the Beavers lead to single-digits on a couple of occasions, including eight with 16:46 left to play. Another 13-4 Beaver run across the next four minutes extended their lead by to 17. A Nathan Poulin (Williamstown, Vermont) dunk on a fastbreak put an exclamation point to the run for Farmington. Poulin's dunk came after a thunderous block at the rim from Jack Kane (Cumberland, Maine).

The Terriers drew within 13 on a number of occasions, but the Beavers always had an answer, keeping a healthy lead for the remainder of the contest.

Terion Moss (Portland, Maine) scored a game-high 24 points on an efficient 8-13 from the field including 3-5 from beyond the arc. Moss added six rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals. Kane had a strong performance, controlling the paint on both ends of the floor. He finished with 20 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks. Dylan Griffin (Saco, Maine) scored 10 points on 5-7 shooting off the bench and added four rebounds and three assists in 15 minutes.

James Phelan scored a team-high 23 points and added five assists to pace the Terriers. Matthew Hadnot added 13 points and seven rebounds while Limcaoco pitched in with 10 points.
