Boston, Mass. - The University of Maine at Farmington cross country program had an outstanding day at the Suffolk Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The women came in 16th place out of the 26 competing teams. The men had a historic day, placing 5th of the 24 competing teams and finishing with the quickest average team time in program history.
Women's Highlights
Joy Evans (Farmington, Maine) once again led the Beavers on the course posting a monster time of 23:50 on the 6k course to place 17th overall out of the 233 racers.Â
Eve Poteet (Fairhill, Maryland) was the 2nd Beaver across the finish line, finishing in 106th place with a 6k time of 26:50.
Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) finished just behind Poteet, finishing with a time 26:59 to place in 107th place.
Abigail MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) and Sarah Chapin (Readfield, Maine) rounded out the top-five for the Beavers. MacDonald placed in 148th place, posting a time of 29:10. Chapin finished with a time of 30:57 and finished in 174th place.
Men's Highlights
Justin Castaldo (Scarborough, Maine) continued his strong season for the Beavers, once again being the first Beaver across. Castaldo placed 20th out of the 274 runners, posting a personal record 8k time of 26:28.
Jimmy Reel (Nashua, N.H.) had a huge personal record, posting a time of 26:37 on the 8k course to finish in 30th place.Â
First-year Andrew LaFlamme (Nashua, N.H.) continued his fantastic rookie season for the Beavers, posting a personal record 8k time of 27:14 to take home 50th place.
Luke Bliss (Underhill, Vermont) and James Riley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished in 54th and 55th place respectively to round out the top-five for the Beavers. Bliss posted a time of 27:20 while Riley finished just a second behind with a time of 27:21.
The five runners of Castaldo, Reel, LaFlamme, Bliss , Riley raced to a program best average time of 27:00. The previous program record was 27:38, set at Husson last season.
Ethan Linscott (Lakeville, Maine) finished with a personal record time of 27:40, placing 67th individually.
Connor Freeman (Bath, Maine) placed in 78th overall, posting a time of 27:51.
Joseph Burgess (Gray, Maine) rounded out the race for the Beavers, finishing in 199th place with a time of 31:50.

The Beavers travel to Presque Isle, Maine on Saturday, October 28th to compete in the NAC Championship.
