WATERVILLE, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington first-year guard Brock Flagg (Brewer, Maine) was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week the conference office announced earlier this afternoon. Flagg and the Beaver played just one game a week ago, falling on the road to St. Joseph's, 82-74.
Flagg played an instrumental role in helping the Beavers overcome an early deficit. The Beavers fell behind early in the game as the Monks jumped out to a quick 16-3 lead in the opening three minutes. Flagg entered the game with 16:09 left in the half.
With the Beavers trailing by 11, Flagg scored the Beavers next 11 points, cutting the Beavers deficit down to seven with 11 minutes left to play in the opening half. Flagg finished with 16 points in the opening half helping keep the Beavers within striking distance at the intermission.
For the game, Flagg finished with 18 points on 7-11 shooting from the field and knocking down one three-pointer. Flagg also finished with two rebounds and three steals in 30 minutes of playing time.
Flagg has opened up his career at a scorching pace. He is currently averaging 10.7 points per game while shooting an ultra-effective 74.7% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.
Flagg and the Beavers return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Gorham, Maine to take on the University of Southern Maine.
