Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Beavers Top Lynx For 2nd Time in Two Days

FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team took down Lesley University on Saturday afternoon for the 2nd time in as many days, topping the Lynx 92-69.

With the teams knotted at nine apiece with 15:23 left to play in the opening half, the Beavers outscored the Lynx 28-11 over the subsequent ten minutes to pull away from Lesley and claim their 2nd North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory of the weekend.

The Beavers got contributions up and down their roster on Saturday afternoon. The Lynx sat back in a zone, attempting to shake up their defensive looks. The Beavers had no issue beating the zone, producing high-quality looks on seemingly every possession.

Simon Chadbourne (Portland, Maine), Will Harriman (Biddeford, Maine), and Dylan Griffin (Saco, Maine) each scored nine points to pace the Beavers in the opening half. Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.) chipped in with eight points, canning a pair of deep threes. Jordan Anthony (Farmington, Conn.) was a difference maker on both ends of the court, posting nine rebounds and six points.

Defensively the Beavers were able to limit the Lynx opportunities, holding them to just 35.5% shooting, allowing just one made three-pointer in the 1st half to open up a 45-24 lead heading into halftime.

The Beavers kept rolling in the 2nd half, extending their lead out to 36 in the opening ten minutes of the 2nd half. The 2nd half belonged to first-year forward Jason Reynolds (Winslow, Maine). Reynolds controlled the paint on both ends of the court, posting 12 points and seven boards in just eight minutes of play in the 2nd half.

The Lynx offense got going late in the 2nd half, but was unable to climb out of the 36-point hole that they dug themselves into. Tarell Joseph and Jaden Phillips led the offense charge for Lesley in the 2nd half. Joseph notched 10 points while Phillips added eight in just the 2nd half.

Malachi Howard finished with 17 points to lead the Lynx. Howard helped keep the Lynx within striking distance in the opening moments of the game, hitting several big shots. Christian Castro finished in double-figures with 12. Joseph and Phillips each posted ten points a piece.

Chadbourne posted a team-high 15 points, knocking down 5-10 from beyond the arc. Reynolds posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Harriman posted 12 points while Mickle finished with 11 points and five assists.

The Beavers now head into Christmas break with a 7-4 record and a 2-1 record in NAC play.
