WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas College's softball team scored 10 runs in the 1st inning en route to taking down the University of Maine at Farmington 20-1 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) at Thomas.
The Terriers sent 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the 1st inning, scoring 10 runs on eight hits to jump out to a big lead early. Kelsey Currier recorded a pair of RBI doubles in the inning. Cheyenne Simpson and Katy Simpson each added RBI triples to help pace the Terriers in the inning. Maddie Rock, Makayla Panich, and Leah Knight all chipped in with RBI singles in the 1st.
Panich and Knight each added another RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd inning to help Thomas extend their lead to 13-0.
Katie Hammer (Ellsworth, Maine) and Bella Miller (Lewiston, Maine) drew back-to-back walks with two outs in the 3rd to give the Beavers their 1st base runners of the game. Thomas starting pitcher Kelsey Currier worked out of trouble to keep the Beavers off the board.
Riley Giblin, Kayla Duhaim, and Knight added RBI doubles in the 3rd as the Terriers were able to tack on six more runs to extend their lead.
The Beavers were able to get on the scoreboard in the top of the 5th. Mackenzie Dyer (Hancock, Maine) led off the inning with a walk, stole 2nd base and came around to score on an RBI double by Miller who broke up the Terriers no-hit bid.

The Beavers host the University of Maine at Presque Isle in a NAC doubleheader on Saturday with 1st pitch of game one scheduled for 11 AM.
