WATERVILLE, ME - The University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse team fell on the road on Saturday afternoon, 16-5 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest at the hands of the Thomas College Terriers.
Goals from Mary Larochelle and Alia Chasse in the opening minutes of the game gave the Terriers a quick 2-0 lead. But fellow freshmen Emma Bourget (Gardiner, Maine) and Ruby McMinis (Wells, Maine) scored goals just 1:38 apart to tie the game up at two. McMinis added the assist on Bourget's goal.Â
Sage Brown and Emily Wallingford tacked on goals later in the 1st quarter, helping the Terriers regain their two goal advantage But Bourget once again had the answer, scoring an unassisted goal with 58 seconds left in the quarter.Â
Brown found Larochelle in front of the goal in the final seconds of the 1st quarter to once again give Thomas a two goal advantage.Â
The Terriers tacked on three more goals in the 2nd quarter, while the Beavers were held scoreless, to take an 8-3 lead into halftime. Larochelle tallied her 3rd goal of the game while Chasse picked up her 2nd. Molly Littlefield also found the back on the net in the quarter for Thomas.
After Lauren Bartlett opened the 2nd half scoring, Lydia Eastman (Chelsea, Vermont) scored her 2nd goal of the season to end the Terriers run.
The Terriers responded with three straight goals from Scarlett Raymond-Ayer, Bartlett, and Larochelle to take a 12-4 lead.Â
McMinis tacked on her 2nd goal of the game at 6:40 of the 3rd quarter, but that would be the last goal the Beavers scored.Â
Bourget and McMinis each scored a pair of goals and McMinis added an assist to lead the Beavers. Kate Nowell (York, Maine) tallied nine saves in net for Farmington.Â
Larochelle finished with five goals and an assist while Chasse added a hat-trick to pace the Terriers. Lizzy Gotay picked up 14 saves for the Terriers.Â
