Chadbourne Nets Eight Threes in Beavers Blowout Win Over VTSU-Lyndon

LYNDONVILLE, Vermont - Senior guard Simon Chadbourne (Portland, Maine) started the game on fire and never cooled off en route to drill 8-9 from beyond the arc to help the Beavers take down Vermont State University-Lyndon, 108-75 on Saturday afternoon.

After taking down the Hornets on Friday evening, the Beavers kept their foot on the gas Saturday afternoon as well, creating separation early on Saturday afternoon and coasting to their 6th North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory of the season.

Chadbourne got the offense rolling on the very first possession of the game, drilling a three off a dish from Zachary Mickle (Billerica, Mass.).

The Hornets hung around for the first few minutes of the game and clung to a marginal 8-7 lead after Peyton Olsen drilled a three. But Chadbourne answered with consecutive threes on back-to-back possessions to give the Beavers the lead. The Beavers did not look back, opening up a double-digit lead with 9:22 left to play in the opening half.

The Beavers hung on to a 41-31 lead with 5:46 to play but closed the half on a 18-7 run, opening up a 21-point lead heading into halftime. Chadbourne's hot shooting continued during the Beavers run to close the half, drilling two more threes to start the spurt.

After shooting 47.37% (18-38) from the field and 45.45% (10-22) from beyond the arc in the opening half, the Beavers kept rolling in the 2nd half.

Farmington opened up the 2nd half on a 14-3 run to open up a 31-point lead and put away the Hornets. Cole Banks (Chelsea, Vermont) got in on the three-point fun, drilling a three of his own. Chadbourne added another one on the Beavers' game-sealing run.

The Beavers led by 30 or more for a majority of the rest of the 2nd half and shot 55.26% (21-38) from the field in the half.

While the Beavers had a great day on the offensive end, they put things together on the defensive end of the floor as well. Farmington held the Hornets to 37.7% from the field and forced 14 turnovers.

Chadbourned finished with a game high 28 points, adding four rebounds and four assists. Jason Reynolds (Winslow, Maine) came off the bench and scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. Jordan Anthony (Farmington, Conn.) and Dylan Griffin (Saco, Maine) posted identical statlines with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists each.

Peyton Olsen scored a team-high 23 points to pace the Hornets. Gregory Gonyea Jr. added 15 points off the bench for Lyndon.
