Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Chadbourne Reaches 1,000 Point Milestone in Farmington’s Win over Lyndon

LYNDONVILLE, Vermont – University of Maine at Farmington senior guard Simon Chadbourne (Portland, Maine) became the 35th member of the men's basketball 1,000-point scoring club in the Beavers' 85-68 victory over VTSU Lyndon on Sunday afternoon.

The Records:

The Beavers completed a perfect 4-0 week, securing wins over SUNY Delhi, SUNY Cobleskill, VTSU Johnson, and VTSU Lyndon. With the win, the Beavers improved to 9-7 overall and 6-1 in NAC play, extending their winning streak to five games. The Hornets fell to 4-12 overall and 1-4 in NAC play with the loss.

How it Happened:

Chadbourne entered the game just two points shy of 1,000 and wasted no time reaching the milestone. In the opening minutes, he got free in transition, and a pass from Gabe Michaud (Gorham, Maine) found him for a three-pointer that put him over the 1,000-point mark and gave the Beavers their first points of the game.

The first 14 minutes of play were highly competitive. Farmington managed to build an eight-point lead after a three-pointer from first-year Zach McLaughlin (Hampden, Maine) made it 26-18 with 8:21 left in the first half.

The Hornets responded with a 10-0 run, with five different players contributing, to take a 28-26 lead with less than six minutes remaining in the half.

However, the Beavers responded with a strong finish to the half, outscoring the Hornets 20-7 to take an 11-point lead into the break. Senior center Dylan Griffin (Saco, Maine) scored 11 of his team-high 22 points during the run, sparking the Beavers' late surge.

Lyndon came out strong in the second half, with back-to-back threes from Victor Kukta Reyes and Tyler Cooper, along with a layup from Matt Doyle, cutting the Beavers' lead to just seven.

After Doyle's layup made it a 50-43 game, Farmington went on a 27-8 run over the next 12 minutes to take control of the game, extending their lead to 26 points. The Beavers' defense played a key role in the run, holding the Hornets to just 33.3% (11-for-33) shooting in the second half.

Farmington received contributions from all over the lineup, finishing with four players in double figures and 13 players on the score sheet.

Stats of the Game:

Farmington continued its strong shooting performance from the week, finishing with a 51.5% (34-for-66) field goal percentage. The Beavers were 38.1% (8-of-21) from three-point range in the game. On defense, Farmington held Lyndon to 37.9% (25-for-66) shooting from the floor and 29.2% (7-for-24) from beyond the arc. The Beavers also controlled the boards, holding a 43-30 advantage on the glass.
