Men’s Cross Country Runs to 2nd Place Finish at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – The University of Maine at Farmington men's cross country team narrowly edged host Westfield State University to secure a second-place finish at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday morning.

The Beavers totaled 144 points, while Westfield State finished third with 145 points.

Williams College topped the 18-team field, tallying 19 points with eight of the top 11 finishers.

Beaver Runners:

Farmington was led by junior Andrew LaFlamme (Nashua, N.H.), who continued his outstanding 2025 campaign. LaFlamme completed the 8K course in 26:31.9, averaging 5:20.2 per mile to place ninth overall in a competitive field of 193 runners.

Sophomore Alexander Gagnon (Goffstown, N.H.) was the second Beaver to cross the finish line, doing so in 27:15.9. Gagnon averaged 5:29.1 per mile on his way to a 19th-place overall finish and earned 17 place points.


Senior James Riley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished less than ten seconds behind Gagnon, clocking in at 27:23.8 to take 24th place overall. Riley averaged 5:30.6 per mile for the race.


Sophomore Samuel Perkins (Jay, Maine) also turned in a strong performance for the Beavers, finishing as the team's fourth runner in 28:01.7 to place 40th overall, averaging 5:38.3 per mile.


The fifth and final scorer for Farmington was junior Ethan Linscott (Lakeville, Maine), who placed 72nd overall with a time of 29:14.8, averaging 5:53.0 per mile.


First-year Hans Bakke (York, Maine) and junior Joe Burgess (New Gloucester, Maine) also competed for the Beavers. Bakke finished in 30:14.9 to place 94th overall, while Burgess took 128th with a time of 31:39.6.

Today's meet marked the final regular-season event for the Beavers, who will gear up for the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship in Bangor, Maine, on November 1.
