Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Beavers Breeze Past Cadets to Complete 2-0 Weekend

CASTLETON, Vt. – The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team wrapped up their trip to Vermont on Saturday afternoon by picking up their second win in as many days, defeating Norwich University, 82-64, on day two of the Spartan Classic.

The Records:

The win is the Beavers' second of the season, improving them to 2-1 overall. Norwich dropped to 1-3 following the setback.

How it Happened:

The Beavers used an 18-0 surge over just 5:13 in the opening nine minutes to take a 25-6 lead and never looked back, maintaining a lead of 15 or more for the remainder of the game.

Braden Camire (Saco, Maine) came off the bench on fire, knocking down back-to-back threes before adding a jumper in the lane to highlight the run. First-years Tristan Robbins (Caribou, Maine) and Bryce Guitard (Berwick, Maine) each added a three during the stretch.

Farmington continued to extend its lead in the first half. Consecutive threes from junior forward Jason Reynolds (Winslow, Maine) and sophomore guard Zach McLaughlin (Hampden, Maine) pushed the advantage to 23 points with 5:15 left before halftime.

Norwich responded with an 8-0 run, sparked by Michel Ndayishimiye, to cut the deficit to 35-20 with three minutes remaining in the half.

But that was as close as the Cadets would get. The Beavers carried a 39-22 lead into halftime, then stretched it to as many as 31 points in the second half to put the game out of reach. McLaughlin, coming off a career-high 32 points on Friday night, heated up again after the break, while Camire continued to knock down shots from long range.

Farmington received contributions from across the roster as 11 different players scored and seven players tallied five or more points. All 14 healthy players saw action.
