UMF Women’s Lacrosse Honors Seniors, Defeats Thomas 15-8

FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day in style on Friday afternoon, picking up a 15-8 win over Thomas College in North Atlantic Conference play at Prescott Field.


The Records:

Farmington improved to 3-10 overall and 2-4 in NAC play with the win, while Thomas dropped to 1-11 on the season and 0-6 in conference action.

How it Happened:

Thomas came out strong, using a 4-1 run late in the first quarter to grab early momentum. Mary Larochelle scored twice for the Terriers, while Isabella Pelletier and Emily Wallingford each added goals. Emma Dunn (Farmington, Maine) helped UMF stay within striking distance with a late free-position goal to close the quarter, cutting the deficit to 4-2.

The Beavers responded quickly in the second. Emilie Crocker (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) opened the frame with a goal, and Dunn followed with her second of the day to even the score. Ally Trefsger (South Portland, Maine) then finished off a feed from Abby Trefsger (South Portland, Maine) to put UMF ahead 5-4 heading into halftime.

UMF exploded in the third quarter, outscoring Thomas 6-2 behind a strong defensive effort and a balanced offensive attack. Ashlee Farrar (South Paris, Maine) and Abby Trefsger each tallied goals early in the frame, while Ruby McMinis (Wells, Maine) caught fire, netting two of her three goals during the third-quarter surge.

The Beavers continued to control the action in the fourth. Goals from Ally Trefsger, McMinis, Lauren Girouard (Concord, Vermont), and Crocker sealed the victory, despite Thomas adding a pair of late scores from Emily Gower and Pelletier.

In the second half of the game, Abby Trefsger became the UMF women's lacrosse all-time leader in draw controls. Trefsger finished her collegiate career with 168 draw controls, topping Rhi Jackson '17 who previously held the record with 166.

Stats of the Game:

UMF outshot Thomas 31-21 overall and held a 19-9 advantage in shots on goal. The Beavers narrowly won the draw control battle 14-13 and were solid in transition, completing 18 of 23 clear attempts.

Farmington forced 25 turnovers on the afternoon and scored on 4-of-8 free-position opportunities, while Thomas converted 5-of-8 free-position chances.

Both teams committed a combined 51 fouls in a physical matchup.

  • Ruby McMinis led the Beavers with 3 goals, 6 ground balls, 4 draw controls, and 3 caused turnovers.
  • Emma Dunn recorded 3 goals and an assist, along with a pair of draw controls.
  • Abby Trefsger finished with 2 goals, 2 assists, and 4 draw controls.
  • Ashlee Farrar tallied 2 goals, 1 assist, 3 ground balls, and 3 caused turnovers.
Leaders – Thomas:
  • Isabella Pelletier paced the Terriers with 3 goals on 8 shots.
  • Mary Larochelle scored twice and added 3 draw controls.
  • Emily Wallingford chipped in a goal, 3 ground balls, and a caused turnover.
  • Goalkeeper Bristol Sine made 11 saves in net for Thomas.
After the game, the Beavers honored their six seniors: Tasha Geroux (Augusta, Maine), Ashlee Farrar (South Paris, Maine), Kt Lebakken (Anoka, Minnesota), Abby Trefsger (South Portland, Maine), Riley Forrest (Portland, Maine), and Emilie Crocker (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) for their contributions to the program.

With that, the 2025 UMF Women's Lacrosse season has come to an end.
