LaFlamme Leads Beavers to 5th Place Finish at Maine State Championship

BRUNSWICK, MaineJunior standout Andrew LaFlamme (Nashua, N.H.) raced to an 11th-place finish to lead the University of Maine at Farmington men's cross country team to a fifth-place showing at the Maine State Championship hosted by Bowdoin College.

The Beavers totaled 142 points in their fifth-place effort. Bates College dominated the meet, securing first place with just 28 points.

Beaver Runners

LaFlamme put together a strong race from start to finish, covering the 8K course in 26:33.1 to finish 11th overall with an average mile pace of 5:20.4.

Sophomore Alex Gagnon (Goffstown, N.H.) also turned in a great performance, finishing 29th overall in a competitive 143-runner field. Gagnon crossed the line in 27:05.0, averaging 5:26.9 per mile.


Senior James Riley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) followed closely behind, placing 36th overall with a time of 27:31.9. Riley averaged 5:32.3 per mile and contributed 28 points toward the team score.


Sophomore Sam Perkins (Jay, Maine) was the Beavers' fourth scorer, clocking an impressive 28:07.9 for 55th place. He averaged 5:39.5 per mile.


Junior Ethan Linscott (Lakeville, Maine) rounded out UMF's top five, placing 62nd overall with a time of 28:32.9 and an average pace of 5:44.5.


Junior Joe Burgess (New Gloucester, Maine) also competed for the Beavers, finishing 112th in 32:48.6.

UP NEXT

The Beavers will be off next weekend before traveling to Husson University on October 4 for the NAC Preview Meet.
