FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team ran to a second-place finish on Saturday morning in the 2026 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship preview. The Beavers hosted today's event and will also serve as the host of the 2026 NAC Championship.
Husson University earned the top spot as a team, scoring 30 points, while the Beavers finished with 35 points to place second overall.
Beaver Runners:
The Beavers were paced by the duo of senior Lina Martinez Nocito (Mt. Vernon, Maine) and first-year Amelia Hill (Jaffrey, N.H.), who placed first and second, respectively.
Martinez Nocito, the reigning NAC Runner of the Week, dominated the field with an impressive time of 24:37.7 on the 6K course. Martinez Nocito averaged 6:36.3 per mile during the race.
Hill, fresh off being named the NAC Rookie of the Week after the first week of the season, picked up where she left off, earning second place overall with a time of 25:26.2. Hill finished with an average mile time of 6:49.3.
First-year Annabelle Hanscom (Sidney, Maine) finished the race in 27:53.4 en route to a 10th-place finish overall. Hanscom averaged 7:28.8 per mile.
The fourth Beaver to cross the finish line was sophomore Heather Alexander (Orleans, Vt.), who placed 15th overall. Alexander finished in 29:03.0, averaging 7:47.5 per mile.
Senior Abby MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) was the fifth Beaver to contribute to the team's second-place effort, placing 19th overall. MacDonald averaged 8:23.1 per mile and posted a total time of 31:15.8.

The Beavers will be back in action next Saturday when they compete in the Maine State Championship, hosted by Bowdoin College.
