Box Score FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington and University of Southern Maine battled to a 1-1 deadlock in non-conference men's soccer action today at Prescott Field.
The Beavers (5-4-3) are slated to host Johnson State College on Saturday at 3:15 p.m. The Huskies (3-8-2) are slated to host Western Connecticut Saturday at 1 p.m.
After the Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the opening half, Sean Raph (Waterville, Maine) scored off a Michael Kelly (Norton, Mass.) feed 3:57 into the second half to tie the match at 1-1.
An unassisted effort by Jeff Soules (Scarborough, Maine) gave USM its 1-0 lead at 27:19.
The Huskies outshot the Beavers 8-3 in the extra sessions, but Farmington netminder Tennessee Peters (Scarborough, Maine) made three saves in maintaining the stalemate. The Beavers finished the game with a 21-20 shot edge.
Peters finished with seven saves in 65 minutes between the pipes for Farmington, while Derek Reilly (Hollis-Brookline, N.H.) made one save in the first half.
David Kreps (Agawam, Mass.) stopped 12 shots for the Huskies.
