Men's soccer notches win over Newbury

BOSTON -- Jake Constantine (Woodland, N.J.) scored a goal as the University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team scored a 2-0 non-conference victory over Newbury College this afternoon at Pine Manor College.

The Beavers, who also were the beneficiaries of an own goal, improved to 4-3-2 on the season and are scheduled to visit Colby College Tuesday. The Nighthawks dropped to 1-5.

Constantine cored the game-winner 11 minutes into the contest. Constantine headed a pass from Viktor Nilsson  (Linkoping, Sweden) past Newbury goalkeeper junior William McNally (Grafton, Mass.), at 10:51 for the 1-0 lead. The Beavers scored on an own goal at 21:49 to pad their advantage to 2-0

Farmington freshman goalkeeper Tennessee Peters (Scarborough, Maine) recorded two saves in 90 minutes of action. The Beavers outshot the Nighthawks 25-8.

McNally finished with six saves.
