Box Score FARMINGTON -- Michael Kelly (Norton, Mass.) collected two goals and an assist as third-seeded University of Maine at Farmington advanced to the North Atlantic Conference men's soccer semifinals with a 4-0 win over No. 6 Johnson State College at Prescott Field today.
The Beavers (8-5-4) are scheduled to take on No. 2 Thomas College (9-5-2) in Waterville on Saturday. Game time is to be announced. The Badgers finished their season at 3-9-3.
Jake Constantine (Woodland, N.J.) and Viktor Nilsson (Linkoping, Sweden) each netted a goal for the Beavers, who scored three times in the opening 18:16.
Kelly scored off a deflected cross at 3:33 to give the hosts a 1-0 edge. Constantine finished off a 2-on-1 with Dillon Clark (Old Town, Maine) and Kelly capped a run with a score to push the Beavers' lead to 3-0.
Johnson State blitzed the Beavers out of intermission with Farmington keeper Tennessee Peters (Scarborough, Maine) lifting a header by Lucas Fitzgerald (Morrisville, Vt.) over the crossbar and the Beavers survived a pair of corner kicks to keep the score at 3-0.
The Badgers Nilsson's laser off a Kelly setup padded Farmington's advance to 4-0 en route to the first-round win.
Peters finished with seven saves for the Beavers The freshman also snubbed a penalty kick by Victor Abass (Bothell, Wash.) at 81:57 in maintaining the shutout.
Ryan Belen (Northvale, N.J.) stopped nine shots for the Badgers, who were outshot 26-11.
