Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. -- Jordan Hale (Falmouth, Maine) scored two goals to lead the University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team to a 2-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over New England College this afternoon.
The Beavers (5-4 overall, 3-1 in the NAC) are scheduled to host Castleton State College Saturday in a key NAC clash. The women's match is set for 1 p.m., followed by the men's contest. The Pilgrims dropped to 5-5-1 (1-2-1).
Hale got UMF going 3:11 into the contest when the junior punched in a pass from Luiz Ristow (Joinville, Brazil). Ristow's feed was deflected by a defender, but Hale was able to score to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead.
Hale extended UMF's advantage to 2-0 when he finished off a breakaway by beating NEC keeper Robert Millard at 72:45. The goal was Hale's team-best eighth of the season.
Tennessee Peters (Scarborough, Maine) earned the shutout for the Beavers as the sophomore made 10 saves. The Pilgrims held a slim 17-16 edge in shots, while UMF took four corner kicks to the hosts' three.
Millard finished with eight saves.
