Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine -- Jake Constantine (Woodland, N.J.) and Sean Raph (Waterville, Maine) each netted a goal as the University of Maine at Farmington notched a 2-1 victory over Green Mountain College in North Atlantic Conference men's soccer action.
UMF improved to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the NAC. The Beavers are scheduled to visit the University of Southern Maine Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The Eagles (1-9-1, 1-4) are slated to Maine Maritime Academy Saturday at 3 p.m.
Raph opened the scoring at 36:18 when he headed in a pass by Constantine. Jordan Hale (Falmouth, Maine) sent a cross to Constantine, who chipped the ball over the head of GMC keeper Nate Kishbaugh (Niskayuna, N.Y.). Raph drilled the lofty bid into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Constantine extended UMF's advantage to 2-0 at 73:41 on a solid individual effort.
The Eagles outshot the Beavers 16-15 in the match, including an 11-9 advantage in the second half. Green Mountain's persistence paid off with Chris Gaskin (Savannah, N.Y.) finishing off a Charly Thevenau (Republic of Mauritias) pass at 86:25 to cut the lead to 2-1.
UMF held the Eagles without a bid over the final 3:35 of the contest to hold on for the 2-1 victory.
Tennessee Peters (Scarborough, Maine) made seven saves for the Beavers.
Kishbaugh recorded nine stops for Green Mountain.
