Men's soccer unable to come back in home season finale against Husson

Box Score

FARMINGTON, Maine – Husson University's Trevor Higgins scored a pair of second-half goals to lead the Eagles to a 4-0 North Atlantic Conference win over the University of Maine at Farmington, in men's soccer Wednesday at Prescott Field.

Husson's (11-4-0, 7-1-0 NAC) Cameron Libbey notched what would end up being the game winner in the ninth minute, finishing off a pass from Philip Frost. Husson outshot UMaine-Farmington (1-14-0, 0-7-0 NAC) by an 11-4 count in the first half, but the Eagles still held just a 1-0 lead at the intermission.

Higgins notched his first of the afternoon in the 58th minute with Zach Emeigh assisting. Husson held onto the 2-0 lead for the next 25 minutes, before a goal by Frost in the 83th minute and a second by Higgins in the 84th gave some cushion to the Eagles' lead.

Husson finished the game outshooting UMaine-Farmington, 17-9, and with a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

UMaine-Farmington keeper Paul Dupre (Rehoboth, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) recorded five saves with four goals allowed over his 87 minutes played in the Beavers' goal. Chris Roberts (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy) came on to finish out the final three minutes of the contest. Husson keeper Brian Potter was credited with the shutout, and charted three saves.

UMaine-Farmington resumes play on Saturday, Oct. 20, when it travels to Johnson State College for a NAC matchup. Husson also continues its season on Saturday, hosting Colby-Sawyer College.
