Second-half surge lifts Saint Joseph's men's soccer past UMF, 2-0

FARMINGTON, Maine -- Two second-half goals by Saint Joseph's College lifted the Monks to a 2-0 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington, in a non-conference men's soccer matchup Wednesday afternoon at Prescott Field.

Saint Joseph's (3-4-1) Zach Johnson (Westbrook, Maine) scored the game-winner in the 57th minute, finishing a shot from the left side off a pass from Cody Snyder (Bath, Maine).

The Monks' Calvin Servaes (Hull, Mass.) extended the Saint Joseph lead to 2-0 in the 72nd minute, beating UMaine-Farmington keeper Paul Dupre (Rehoboth, Mass.) off a feed from Ross Suleski (Amesbury, Mass.)

Dupre finished the game with six saves in the UMaine-Farmington (1-5-0) goal, while Saint Joseph keeper Scott Benner (Post Falls, Idaho) was credited with four saves. The Monks outshot the Beavers, 20-13, while UMaine-Farmington was awarded eight corner kicks to five for Saint Joseph's. Saint Joseph's was called for offside five times, compared to four for UMF.

The Beavers continue their home stand on Saturday, Sept. 22, when they host Lyndon State in a North Atlantic Conference matchup. Saint Joseph's will also see the field again on Saturday, when it hosts Emerson College in a conference matchup.
