Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – Four University of Maine at Farmington goals in the second half blew a two-goal game at the half wide open and resulted in a 6-0 win for the Beavers over Green Mountain College, in North Atlantic Conference men's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Prescott Field.
UMaine-Farmington improved to 4-11-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the NAC with the win, while Green Mountain fell to 2-14-0 with the loss, 1-7-0 in conference play.
Sophomore Ibrahim Achekh charted two goals for the Beavers, including Farmington's first goal in the 21st minute. Achekh received a through-ball from Uriah Forrest-Bully, and finished on a breakaway goal past Green Mountain keeper Matt Kukola.
Senior Jordan Kim scored directly off a corner kick in the 32nd minute to put the Beavers ahead, 2-0, a margin that lasted right into the intermission.
Achekh extended the UMaine-Farmington lead to 3-0 in the 66th minute off an assist by Austin Dooley, and jump-starting a Beaver offense that scored two more times over the next 10 minutes. Kim notched his second goal of the afternoon in the 71st minute off a feed from Jordan Luks, and Dahir Muktar netted a goal in the 76th minute to give Farmington a 5-0 lead.
Matt Potter capped UMaine-Farmington's scoring surge for the day in the 83rd minute, scoring off a pass from Abdikadir Hassan.
Starter Derek Reilly made 10 saves in the UMaine-Farmington goal over 76 minutes played, before Chris Roberts came on to finish the game with a pair of saves. Kukola charted 11 saves in the Eagles' goal.
UMaine-Farmington finished with a 29-19 advantage in shots taken, including a 17-12 lead in shots on goal. The Beavers had eight corner kick attempts to the Eagles' six.
UMF finishes the 2013 regular season on Sunday, Oct. 27, when it hosts Castleton State College at 2:30 p.m. at Prescott Field. Green Mountain completes its season on Sunday at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine, with a 3:30 p.m. contest.
