Box Score CASTINE, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington saw its 2013 season come to a close in a 4-0 loss to Maine Maritime Academy, in Sunday afternoon's quarterfinal round of the 2013 North Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament at Ritchie Field.
The Beavers finish the season with a 4-13-1 record.
Maine Maritime improved to 11-4-2 with the win, and will host Colby-Sawyer College in Wednesday's NAC Tournament Semifinals.
The second-seeded Mariners got a quick lead over the Beavers, striking in the seventh minute on Kyle Haslam's blast from 25 yards out that found the back of the net.
Maine Maritime went up 2-0 in the 15th minute on an own goal by UMaine-Farmington. A loose ball inside Farmington's six-yard box eventually got behind keeper Derek Reilly, and was kicked into the goal by a UMF defender in an errant clearing attempt.
Jonathan Reeks extended Maine Maritime's lead to 3-0 in the first minute of play in the second half, redirecting Brian Soucy's shot on the UMaine-Farmington goal.
The Mariners capped their scoring in the 69th minute when Nicholas George converted on a penalty kick awarded for a UMaine-Farmington foul in the box.
Maine Maritime outshot UMaine-Farmington by a 32-5 margin, and had 10 corner kick opportunities. Reilly finished the day with 11 saves, while Mariner keeper Jesse Perkins charted three saves.
