Box Score BANGOR, Maine – A late University of Maine at Farmington rally came up one goal shy of the goal and the Beavers dropped a 2-1 North Atlantic Conference men's soccer loss to Husson University, Saturday night at Boucher Field.
Husson took an early lead just five minutes into the match, on a goal by Kyle Hargreaves. Jimmy Fitzpatrick and Andy Stevick were credited with assists on the goal.
The Eagles doubled up their lead in the 80th minute, on a goal by Jeremy Beers off a pass from Josh Puckett.
UMaine-Farmington (1-2-1, 0-1-1 NAC) broke Husson's shutout bid in the 88th minute, when Ryan Fairbanks took advantage of a defensive miscue by the Eagles to score his first collegiate goal.
Derek Reilly recorded nine saves over his 90 minutes in the UMaine-Farmington goal, while Husson's Brian Potter logged three saves. Husson (1-4-2, 1-0-1 NAC) outshot UMaine-Farmington 23-7, and had a 6-0 advantage on corner kicks.
UMaine-Farmington has little time to rest as it returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 22, at home against Colby College. Game time at Prescott Field is 2:00 p.m.
