Dickey enjoys 40-point day to lead UMF past Green Mtn.

Box Score

POULTNEY, Vt. -- Senior forward Andrew Dickey scored 40 points to lead the University of Maine at Farmington to a 86-56 victory over North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rival Green Mountain College Saturday afternoon at the Eagle Dome.

Dickey dominated the contest, grabbing a game-high 14 boards, 12 of which came in the first half. Senior big man Ben Johnson scored 14 points for the Beavers, going seven-for-nine from the floor and snagging four rebounds. Senior forward Nate Carson contributed as the defensive anchor, swatting away three shots.

Freshman forward Javier Lugris led the Eagles with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds. Junior guard Robert Holloway went four-for-eight from the floor, scoring nine points to go along with his three boards. Sophomore guard Cody Crandall scored seven points off the bench for Green Mountain, hitting two of his six attempts from deep.

The Beavers played well in the first half, going 15-for-32 from the floor and making six of their 16 shots from behind the arc. The Beavers dominated the glass, outrebounding Green Mountain 25-13 in the half.

The Eagles struggled to score in the first half, making only eight of its 27 shots from the floor, and only one of the 11 attempts from behind the arc, forcing them into a 43-18 deficit at halftime.

The Eagles would bounce back in the second half, going 12-for-29 from the floor and forcing the Beavers to commit 10 turnovers.

Despite the defensive pressure from the Eagles in the second half, the Beaver's domination of the boards and Dickey's red-hot scoring performance was too much for the Eagles to handle.

UMaine-Farmington will host New England College next Friday at 7:30 p.m. in a North Atlantic Conference contest. The Eagles will travel to NAC adversary Maine Maritime next Friday for a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
