UMF Shutout 6-0 in Regular Season Finale

FARMINGTON, Maine – The North Atalntic Conference leading Colby-Sawyer Chargers shutout the UMaine-Farmington (1-15-1) men's soccer team, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Prescott Field in the season finale.

The Chargers took the lead late in the first half when Alex Ortega found the back of the net in the 31st minute. Denali Sexton crossed left inside the box and Ortega lined a shot into the right side of the goal to give CSC the 1-0 edge.

Denali Sexton doubled the Chargers lead five minutes later when he beat the Beavers defense with fancy footwork and ball play. Sexton attacked from the left side and forced UMF keeper Ronie Morales to commit to the ball. Once Morales attempted for a save, Sexton booted a grounder past Morales into the bottom right corner of the goal. 

Chris DiCecca increased the lead to 3-0 just 52 seconds into the second half after getting an assist from Max Yee. Ortega added two more goals for the hat trick in the 51st and 63rd minute. Isaac Nicholas scored the final goal in the 85th minute to give the Chargers the final margin of victory.

The Beavers best scoring chance came late in the first half. Jordan Luks sent a cross through the Chargers defense to Austin Dooley, but Dooley's shot sailed high.

Ronie Morales saved nine shots for the Beavers and finishes the season with 114 saves, tying him for the fifth best season in UMF history 

UMaine-Farmington finishes the season ninth in the NAC final regular season standings.
