For the first five minutes, the teams went basket-for-basket, with Farmington gaining a slight 14-9 advantage. At 16-16, the Eagles tied it up, and they did so again at 19-19. Two free throws from Guerrette got the Eagles the lead at 21-19. The teams stayed within a basket or two of each other for the remainder of the half and headed into the locker room with Husson leading, 45-42.

Husson jumped out to a 50-44 lead at the start of the second half before UMaine-Farmington fought back to 53-53. The teams kept it close again for the next few minutes, and then a string of free throws from McIntyre, Johnson, and McIntyre again put Husson up 67-60 with just under 10 minutes remaining.

A jumper from Brochu extended the Husson lead to nine, and another jumper from her kept it there at 71-62 after Farmington freshman Bridget Humphrey scored one of her own.

UMF closed the gap to five points off another Humphrey basket and got within three off a Smith jumper.

Husson's Guerrette sunk a big three to extend the Eagles' lead again. The Eagles hung on to the lead with some stellar team play and found themselves up 81-72 with two minutes left on the clock. UMF brought it within five points with just under a minute remaining, but were unable to close out the comeback bid.
