Box Score

BOSTON, MA – The UMaine-Farmington men's soccer team lost 5-0 to Wentworth in a non-conference matchup Saturday evening.

Wentworth got on the board early when Adam Rhodes scored his fourth goal of the season 1:54 into the game. The goal was assisted by Sam Martins, who sent a pass in front, and Rhodes sent the one-touch pass into the back of the net.

Leopards' junior forward Max Hilchuk scored his first of three goals in the game in the 31st minute. Erik Shaw took a shot that hit the crossbar, and then Hilchuk got the rebound and booted it past UMF goalkeeper Ronie Morales.

Hilchuk got his second goal of the game just before the half after the Leopards converted on a corner kick. Martins' corner went to Hilchuk and with a low shot, sent his shot into the left side of the goal, making the score 3-0 going into halftime.

Martins picked up his third assist of the game when he sent a cross to Erik Shaw, took a shot to the left that found its way into the back of the net.

Hilchuk made the game 5-0 in the 68th minute when he received a pass from Alberto Benhamu and converted on a header to the near post.

The Beavers could not generate any offense as UMF was outshot 32-5 and lost the corner kick battle 14-2 as well. Ronie Morales recorded nine saves in the game. Matt Wilson saved two shots in a relief appearance.

UMaine-Farmington (0-2-1) will return to action on Wednesday, September 17th, as the Beavers will travel to Harold Alfond Stadium on the campus of the University of Maine to face Colby.
