NEC Holds Off Women's Hoops in the Final Minutes

FARMINGTON, Maine – New England College (10-2, 5-1) held off a University of Maine at Farmington (4-8, 4-2) surge to capture a, 66-56, conference win on Saturday afternoon at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Claiming a 51-48 advantage with five minutes left in the game, New England College added to its lead with a layup and free throw. After Meghan Smith made a layup to edge the Beavers closer, the Pilgrims powered to an 8-0 run in the final three minutes.

Lindsay Ranquist and Kelly Pomerleau led the Beavers with 17 points apiece. Meghan Smith added 12 points and seven rebounds. NEC's Kayla Lawlor hit 5-of-10 from long range for a game-high 20 points. 

UMaine-Farmington returns to action on Tuesday at Husson on for a 5:30p.m tip-off.
