Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington (3-6-2, 1-3-1) men's soccer team held Castleton University (9-3-1, 5-0-0) to its lowest goal total in the last three conference games with a 3-0 shutout loss on Saturday at Leib Field.
The Spartans, who sit at the top of the North Atlantic Conference standings at the moment, took the lead in the 15th minute when Solo Felekeni dished a pass through the Beavers' defense and Jake Tietgens lined a shot for his eighth goal of the season.
Castleton doubled its lead nearly ten minutes later as Paul Phillips struck a pass into the box and Derek Blouin jumped up and headed in the second goal of the contest.
Late in the second half, Tayoung Nuyepga (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) made a critical defensive save for UMF to keep the game locked at 2-0. When Thomas Kirk got past UMF keeper Matt Wilson (Hamden, Conn./Hamden), Kirk took a shot on the far right of the goal and Nuyepga came in at the last moment to deflect it away.
Blake Hart added third goal of the game for Castleton shortly into the second half. Hart fired a shot on goal and Wilson's deflection was not enough to stop the shot from landing in the back of the net.
Wilson saved three shots in the game as the Beavers only allowed six shots on goal. Amir Pasic earned his sixth shutout victory of the season for the Spartans.
