Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington (5-9-3, 3-4-2) drew its third double overtime game of the season on Saturday with a scoreless tie against Lyndon State College (2-13-1, 1-7-1) in North Atlantic Conference action.
The Beavers outshot the Hornets, 31-14, in the contest. UMF had prime scoring chances in the second half from Yusuf Yama (Goma, Congo/Portland) and Ibrahim Achekh (Aboudeia, Chad/Lewiston), but both of their shots sailed past the goal post.
In the first overtime period, UMF was on the attack for the entire ten minutes with five total shots and did not surrender one in return.
The roles were reversed in the final overtime session. With six minutes remaining, Lyndon fired two shots, which resulted in a UMF save and then a block, and also had another scoring opportunity immediately following with a corner kick but the shot flew wide.
Chris Roberts (Arundel, Maine/Saco Academy) and
Matt Wilson (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) split time during the shutout with Roberts saving a shot and Wilson stopping a pair. Lyndon's keeper Matt LeClair had a busy afternoon with 15 saves.
UMaine-Farmington will have to wait until Sunday to hear its playoff fate when North Atlantic Conference office will announce the pairings.
