Two Second Half Goals Sink Men's Soccer

CASTINE, Maine- University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer (4-10-0, 2-5-0) surrendered two goals in the second half that allowed Maine Maritime (5-9-1, 4-3-0) to secure the victory in a North Atlantic Conference match-up on Tuesday.

The fist half was played evenly,  neither team was able to get any shots by the keepers.  Both teams registered eight shots as they went into the break tied 0-0.  

The Mariners finally found the back of the net in the 61st minute when Henry Hersey dribbled the ball down the sideline and placed it on net to Caron, who tucked the ball into the net.

Less than six minutes later, Samson put the Mariners ahead 2-0 when he marched the ball into Beaver territory and found the back of the net beating UMF's keeper Ronie Morales (Houston, Texas/ George W. Hewlett).

Kyle Townsend recorded three saves for the Mariners, in the victory and Morales ended the evening with six saves in the setback.

The loss snapped a two-game win streak by the Beavers.

UMaine-Farmington will host Colby-Sawyer in North Atlantic Conference action on Saturday.  Maine Maritime will host Green Mountain on Saturday.
