Box Score POULTNEY, Vt. – University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer (3-9-0, 1-4-0) took down Green Mountain College (0-11-0, 0-5-0) 2-0 to get its first North Atlantic Conference win of the season on Sunday at Eagles Game Field.
UMF got on the scoreboard first when Christian Wallenmaie (Litchfield, N.H./Campbell) streaked in from the right wing to hammer home a rebound off of teammate Biwe Aden's (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) shot from the left side on which GMC's keeper Sawyer Levy made a nice initial stop, but was unable to corral the rebound. The goal allowed UMF to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
The Beavers would continue to pressure the Eagles net, getting multiple scoring chances in the second half. Freshman midfielder Nick Marshall (Portsmouth, R.I./ Portsmouth) scored at 65:14 to give the Beavers the two-goal lead. Jake Richardson (Farmington, N.H./ Farmington) and Ethan Stufoso (South Portland, Maine/ South Portland) assisted on the goal.
Roni Morales (Houston, Texas/ George W. Hewlett) earned the clean sheet in net for the Beavers by turning aside two shots. Sawyer Levy was saddled with the loss for GMC after making 10 saves in defeat, several of which were goal saving in nature.
UMF won the shots battle, outshooting Green Mountain 31-9 and also in corners 8-0.
UMaine-Farmington will host Johnson St. on Saturday at Leib Field.
