Johnson & Wales Pull Away in Second Half to Upend Beavers

BIDDEFORD, Maine --  Ashley Thompson scored a game-high 22 points on 10-for-18 shooting to lead Johnson & Wales University (1-1) to a 71-47 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington (0-2) in the consolation game of the 2016 Ramada Roundball Invitational hosted by the University of New England at the Harold Alfond Forum.

All-tournament selection Raquel Pederzani contributed 13 points, nine assists and five rebounds for JWU, and Kristen Habbel had 12 points and five caroms.

For UMF, Abby Hasson (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds on her way to earning all-tourney accolades. Kennadi Grover (Cushing, Maine/Oceanside)and Morgan Crocker (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay) each tossed in eight points, and Kelly Pomerleau (Turner, Maine/St.Doms) finished with seven to go with four assists.

UMaine-Farmington will travel to St. Joe's on Monday for a non-conference match-up at 5:30.  Johnson & Wales will play again on Tuesday when they travel to Curry, tip-off is scheduled for 5:30.
