Seniors, UMF Overpowered by MMA on the Road

CASTINE, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball (11-13, 9-8) senior forwards Meghan Smith (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) and Elizabeth Ferry (Winslow, Maine/Winslow) combined for 23 points in a 78-42 North Atlantic Conference loss at Maine Maritime Academy (16-8, 12-5) on Wednesday night.

Smith shot 5-of-12 from the floor to lead the team with 12 points and eight rebounds. Smith made a pair of free throws, recorded a pair of steals, and dished a pair of assists. Ferry was nearly a mirror image of Smith with 11 points and six rebounds. Ferry was tenacious on the offensive glass with a game-high five offensive rebounds. Kelly Pomerleau (Turner, Maine/St. Dominic Academy) and Kennadi Grover (Cushing, Maine/Oceanside) added six points apiece for the Beavers.

Maine Maritime had everything falling their way as five Mariners reached double figures. Bekah Cambpell was 7-of-10 from the field for a game-high 16 points. MacKenzie Vosburgh contributed 14 points for MMA on 6-of-8 shooting. Megan McLean added 11 points off the bench while Alayne Felix and Maggie McConkey tallied ten points each.

UMaine-Farmington closes out the regular season on Saturday afternoon against Husson.
