St. Joe's Silences Men's Soccer in Non-Conference Showdown

Box Score

FARMINGTON, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer (2-4) could not stop Saint Joseph's College's (5-2-1) offense on Wednesday afternoon with a 6-0 non-conference loss at Leib Field.

The Monks stretched their winning streak to 5-0-1 over the last six games. Nicholas Borowski tallied St Joe's first goal in the 10th minute with an assist coming from Brett Mattos.

Later in the half, St. Joe's added a pair of goals in a minute and a half span off the boots of Mitchell Duncan and Kartikeya Swarup.

The Monks charted three more scores in the final half. Dalton Gaumer scored his second goal of the season in the 55th minute and Cody Elliott also added his second goal of the season five minutes later. Daniel Fox rounded out the scoring attack with this first goal of the year in the 73rd minute.

Jon Randolph (Buckfield, Maine/Buckfield) had a chance to blemish the shutout for the Beavers late in the first half with a header, but his shot attempt was stopped by St. Joe's keeper Blake Mullen. Kyle Dugas (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan) also tried to get UMF on the scoreboard by sneaking a shot into the left corner of the net, but Mullen was there again to swat away the attack.

Ronie Morales (Houston, Texas/George W. Hewlett) had a busy afternoon between the pipes with 14 saves.

UMaine-Farmington returns to conference action on Saturday afternoon to host rival Husson.
